Jehangirabad police have arrested a youth for sexually assaulting a class 9 girl, accused used to live in the same locality and was acquainted with the victim.
Police have registered a case against the accused identified as Yashwant.
On Wednesday evening, the police registered an FIR on the complaint of the victim and started searching for the accused.
Later in the investigation accused was tracked and arrested.
SHO Ashutosh Upadhyay said that the 16-year-old girl lives in a locality in Jehangirabad area and is a class 9 student. A youth named Yashwant lives in a rented house in the same locality. He is originally from Sehore district. The two became friends due to living in the same area.
They were acquainted for about a year, when the two became close, a month ago the youth made physical relations with the teenager after luring her. After this, he started physically exploiting the school girl by threatening her with defamation.
Accused was repeatedly pressurizing her to have physical relations. Harassed by this, the student told the whole thing to her family and went to the police station and lodged a complaint.
The police registered a case under the sections of rape and POCSO Act and took the accused into custody.
