Delhi CM pushes Swadeshi for nation-building

The third day of the 2nd International Conference and Exhibition on Bio-energy and Technologies (IBET) concluded with a keynote address by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. She urged citizens and industry leaders to embrace Swadeshi products and contribute actively to nation-building.

Speaking at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in Dwarka, the Delhi CM reinforced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for self-reliance, linking it to India’s energy transition and sustainable development.

“The most important thing is that today every Indian should make a contribution to the development of India. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji has said, we have to become self-reliant; we have to adopt Swadeshi products. At every step in our daily lives, respect for our country should be visible. That is the only way to make the country develop and become a ‘vishwa-guru’,” Gupta said.

She highlighted opportunities in India’s green energy sector, inviting industry leaders to work across various fields, from bio-energy to renewable power, in the national Capital. She stressed the urgency of optimising domestic energy resources, pointing out that “all the money of the country is being used to buy fuel from other countries. There are many sectors in which energy are being wasted, which can be channelised into better use.”

The Delhi CM also drew attention to the rapid deployment of bio-energy infrastructure in Delhi. Gupta announced the commissioning of a 200 tonnes per day (TBD) compressed bio-gas plant at Nagli Dairy, emphasising that until recently, Delhi had no operational CBG facility. She described this development as a key step towards reducing energy imports and promoting clean, locally produced fuels.

The event also saw the distribution of prestigious awards recognising excellence across the renewable energy and bioenergy sectors. Rekha Gupta personally presented accolades to leading companies and organisations that have made significant contributions in solar, wind, hydro, biogas, bioenergy, biomass, ethanol production, and innovative clean technologies.

Among the winners were Renew Solar Energy (Jharkhand Five) Private Limited and Acme Solar Holdings Limited, recognised as top solar power producers, while Clean Wind Power (Devgarh) Private Limited received an award for wind power production, with OSTRO Mahawind Power Private Limited taking the runners-up position.

In the hydro sector, Renew Jal Urja Private Limited was honoured for its contribution, and Indore Clean Energy Private Limited was recognised as a leading compressed bio-gas producer.

Bio-energy excellence was celebrated with awards to Godavari Bio-refineries Limited and Merino Industries Limited, while REnergy Dynamics Private Limited was acknowledged for its role as a biomass supplier. Ethanol producers were also recognised, with Swaraj Green Power & Fuel Limited and Grass Roots Research & Creation (India) Private Limited receiving top honours, and INFINITIA Biotech Private Limited named runner-up for grain ethanol production. Corporate consumers of renewable energy were also awarded for their commitment to sustainability. Bangalore International Airport Limited was recognised as a solar power consumer, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited for renewable energy usage, and NTPC for being the largest biomass consumer.

Innovation in clean technologies was acknowledged with SS GAS LAB Asia Private Limited receiving an award for projects in carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS), and Tata Capital Limited was honoured for excellence in electric vehicle financing.

The award ceremony underscored the diversity and depth of India’s growing renewable energy ecosystem, celebrating both production and consumption across multiple clean energy segments. Gupta praised the winners, noting that their efforts not only support India’s energy transition but also contribute to building a self-reliant, technologically advanced economy.

Day three of IBET 2025 thus combined policy vision, technological innovation, and industry recognition, reinforcing the event’s role as a pivotal platform for driving India’s bio-energy and renewable energy ambitions.
