AAP protests over closure of mohalla clinics

Alleging closure of hundreds of mohalla clinics in the city, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday held demonstration against the BJP Government.

Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj and MLA Kuldeep Kumar, besides a score of AAP workers, gathered outside the Govindpuri Mohalla Clinic in Kalkaji, raising slogans against the decision. Hitting back at AAP, Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that the city residents have seen that there were neither doctors, nor pathology tests, nor medicines available in mohalla clinics, while in the Ayushman Arogya Mandirs opened by the BJP Government, doctors, tests, and medicines — everything is available.

During the demonstration in Govindpuri, Kalkaji, the AAP Delhi Unit President Stated, “Before the Delhi Assembly elections, Arvind Kejriwal had repeatedly warned people not to trust the BJP. He had said that if the BJP came to power in Delhi, even by mistake, it would gradually stop all the welfare schemes and facilities meant for the poor and the common man. Arvind Kejriwal had clearly Stated during public meetings that if the BJP came to power, it would shut down the Mohalla Clinics where people receive free treatment, free medicines, and free tests.”

Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that Saurabh Bharadwaj can no longer mislead the people of Delhi about the Mohalla Clinics, even if he tries.

He said that over the past several years, the people of Delhi have seen that proper doctors were not even appointed in the Mohalla Clinics.

There were no facilities for pathology tests, and apart from medicines like crocin or dolo, nothing else was available. These clinics had become centers of scams and irregularities.

“On the other hand, it is clear to the people of Delhi that within just eight months, the Ayushman Arogya Mandirs opened by the BJP Government are providing all basic diagnostic facilities, doctors and medicines. The people of Delhi want to know from Saurabh Bharadwaj — where is former Chief Minister Ms. Atishi Marlena? Why did he have to go to Kalkaji, which is Atishi Marlena’s own constituency, to stage a protest there today?” the Delhi BJP Spokesperson added.
