Union Home Minister Amit Shah will release the third and the most important part of BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ on Saturday for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections which is likely to announce free bus rides for everyone for four months when the air quality index (aqi) rises to hazardous levels, free clean drinking water, and free 300 units of electricity among other poll promises.
Meanwhile, the AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal reacted to development asking BJP to share its vision for Delhi rather than announcing his party’s scheme. In a post on X, Kejriwal said, “Tomorrow Amit Shah is launching BJP's Sankalp Patra III. I request them to please not announce again the schemes already implemented by the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi like free electricity/water. Please tell us what is BJP's plan and vision for Delhi,” the AAP chief said.
He also questioned the Union Minister for the deteriorating condition of law and order in the city. “Why did you fail to fix the law and order situation in Delhi and what will you do now - tell us this?” he asked.
The BJP, which is vying to regain power after more than 25 years in the national capital, will release the final part of its manifesto. It has already launched the first and second part by Union Minister J P Nadda and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur respectively at the state office.
It is expected that the party will make bus travel free for all for four months starting October when the air quality starts deteriorating in a bid to ensure that people use public transport rather than private vehicles. It will also include plans to clean Yamuna and solve the water logging issue in Delhi, sources said.
In its first two installments, the party promised Rs 2,500 monthly allowance for women under the ‘Mahila Samridhi scheme’, financial assistance of Rs 21,000 to all pregnant women, LPG cylinders for Rs 500 and a Rs 2,500 pension scheme for senior citizens. It also included free education for needy students from 'KG to PG' in government institutions, a one-time assistance of Rs 15,000 for UPSC aspirants, and an insurance cover of Rs 10 lakh, along with a Rs 5 lakh accident cover for domestic helps and auto-taxi drivers.
