Wednesday, 12 March 2025 | PNS | Chandigarh

In a major step towards improving road safety, enforcement, and urban mobility, Punjab Police on Tuesday signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Raahgiri Foundation and The Urban Lab Foundation at the Punjab Police Headquarters.

The state Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav emphasized that Punjab Police is adopting a data-driven approach to traffic management, with these collaborations aimed at enhancing public awareness and enforcement strategies. He lauded ADGP Traffic and Road Safety AS Rai and his team for their dedication to making roads safer.

ADGP Rai highlighted the need for a multi-stakeholder approach to road safety, stating that these MoUs will strengthen enforcement, research, and policy advocacy. The partnerships will focus on capacity-building programs and practical road safety measures, reinforcing Punjab’s commitment to sustainable and safer urban mobility.

Sarika Panda Bhatt from Raahgiri Foundation praised Punjab for setting an example by establishing a dedicated research wing within the Traffic Police, enabling a scientific, evidence-based approach to road safety. Abhijeet Lokre from The Urban Lab Foundation expressed confidence that the collaboration would lead to impactful traffic management interventions.
