Amid media reports that the Opposition Congress might field him as its candidate from Haryana, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt on Monday categorically stated that he was neither joining politics nor was he contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Taking to micro-blogging site “X”, 64-year-old Sanjay wrote: “I would like to put all rumours about me joining politics to rest.
I am not joining any party or contesting elections. If I do decide to step into the political arena then I will be the first one to announce it”.
“Please refrain from believing what is being circulated in the news about me as of now,” he clarified.
Sanjay’s clarification came in the wake of reports in a section that he might contest as a Congress candidate from Karnal Lok Sabha constituency in Haryana.
Sanjay comes from a politically influential family that has been close to the Nehru-Gandhi family for more than five decades.
