BSP will not win even one seat in UP: Akhilesh

Thursday, 09 May 2024 | PNS | Lucknow

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said Bahujan Samaj Party would not win even a single parliamentary seat in Uttar Pradesh which sends the largest contingent of 80 MPs to the Lok Sabha.

Akhilesh said on Wednesday in a post on X that the traditional voters of the BSP had drifted away from the party and aligned with the INDIA bloc as it was fighting for the protection of the Constitution and caste-based reservation.

The SP chief’s comment on the BSP was prompted by the reshuffle in the BSP in which Akash Anand, nephew of party chief Mayawati, was divested of all organisational responsibilities following a provocative speech made by him recently at Sitapur.

“The reshuffle in a party organisation is an internal affair of a political party. The actual reason behind the change is the imminent rout of the BSP in the 2024 Lok sabha elections,” Akhilesh Yadav said and added, “The BSP is losing the Lok Sabha elections as its traditional vote bank has shifted its support to opposition’s INDIA bloc which fighting for the protection of the Constitution and reservation.”

He claimed that sensing its defeat, the BSP was taking pre emptive measures of change in organisation.

“It is too little and too late for the BSP to indulge in organisational reshuffle as the party has lost the battle,” Akhilesh Yadav said and added, “The BSP is not winning a single seat in the first three phases of the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh in which polling for 26 seats has so far been completed.”

“There is no prospect for the BSP in the remaining four phases of Lok Sabha elections in UP as it is likely to draw a blank in the first three phases of elections,” rw SP chief said.

“I appeal to the supporters of the BSP not to waste their vote for the party of Dalits and vote for the INDIA bloc which is fighting for the protection and preservation of Constitution and reservation given by Dr BR Ambedkar.”

He urged the electorate to vote for SP/INDIA bloc for protecting the dignity and honour of the disadvantaged sections of society.
