Heat wave warning issued for 11 districts

The Regional Office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Thursday issued a Yellow warning for heat wave conditions in as many as 11 districts of the State. 

Thesedistricts are Nayagarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Balangir, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Koraput and Dhenkanal.

As per the prediction by IMD, these districts would experience intense heat wave conditions during day time and severe humidity during night. 

The IMD also predicted that the mercury level would rise further by three to five degree Celsius than the normal temperature. The costal and the interior Odisha would witness intense humid condition for the next three days. 

This kind of weather conditions are likely to continue till April 6, said the IMD.

“Due to prevailing mainly Northwesterly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation, consequently maximum temperature (day temperature) likely to be more than 40 degree Celsius at many places over the districts of Odisha and likely to be above normal by 3 to 5 degree Celsius over the districts till 6,” said the weather office.

Meanwhile, IMD has issued an advisory to the people to take precaution measures while going outside during day time between 11 am and 4 pm.
