IG Indore Rural, Div Commissioner inspect Barwani district

Inspector General of Police Indore Rural  Anurag and Divisional Commissioner Indore Deepak Singh visited Barwani district keeping in view the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

During this, the counting place and strong room located at Eklavya Residential School were inspected by the officers.  The Officers took information about voting material sites, distribution sites and administrative plan related to collection of voting materials. Necessary instructions were given by IG Shri Anurag regarding the security of the strong room. Instructions were given to install three layer security for security and to completely follow the security related standards issued by the Election Commission. Both the officers directed to pre-evaluate the safety related standards and remove the shortcomings in time.

After inspection of the counting venue and strong room, a meeting was held by the IG and the Divisional Commissioner at the Collector's office, District Barwani regarding election related preparations.

IG Anurag especially talked about mapping the vulnerable areas before the elections and identifying the people creating nuisance and taking necessary legal action against them. He stressed on regular visits of sector police officers to vulnerable areas and active work by flying squad and SST team.

Since Barwani district is an interstate border, he talked about interstate checkpoint checking to keep special vigil on interstate checkpoints, border meetings to maintain coordination with border states, and serving warrants to interstate accused. It was said that surprise checking should be done in areas where inter-state transport is possible.

Before the elections, the IG  Anurag directed to take effective action against organized criminals, especially gangsters, illegal weapons and illegal liquor sellers and also directed to take preventive action against unwanted elements, NSA and District Magistrate has been Directed to take action against items influencing voters like valuables, cash, illegal drugs.

It was said that work like serving warrants, solving election crimes, storing weapons etc. should be done on priority.

Things like better man management, communication plan, shadow area plan, transportation of security forces were also emphasized by both the officers.

District Collector Barwani  Rahul Haridas Phating, Superintendent of Police Puneet Gehlod and other administrative and police officers were mainly present in the meeting.
