If the calculation of over rate selling of all the shops of Dhar district is combined then the extra profit of liquor sellers is about Rs 20 lakh per day due to over rate, extra increase in rate.
There are total of 90 combined countrymade and foreign liquor shops in the entire Dhar district for the year 2024 2025. The contract of 90 shops has been taken by the single group by bidding in the auction, due to which this single group has control over the sale of liquor on all the 90 liquor shops in the entire Dhar district.
Due to this, if the customers go to any liquor shop in Dhar district, and if he purchase desi plain liquor bottle, he has to pay an extra ? 10 and ? 20 on Le Mount beer. According to the rules of the government, the receipt and bill for selling liquor to the customer should be provided by the liquor shopkeeper on the spot itself, but this rule is not being followed in Dhar and the liquor bills are not being given to the customers.
There is also a rule to display the price list of liquor available at the shop in big letters in front of the shop for the information of the customers, but this rule is also not followed anywhere. Citizens have demanded from the government that the government should issue strong instructions to the liquor shopkeepers in Dhar district not to sell liquor above the prescribed price.
