Boudh hottest in State at 45.2 deg

Temperature crossed 45 degrees Celsius in Odisha on Saturday as the heat wave intensified across the State. Boudh recorded a maximum day temperature of 45.2 degree, becoming the hottest place in the State, the Regional Office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here said.

The IMD forecasted that there would be no large change in maximum temperature during the next 24 hours and a slight fall by 2-3 degree thereafter is expected at many places in the districts of the State.

The weather office issued an Orange Warning for Sunday and said heat wave to severe heat wave condition is very likely to prevail in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Angul, Boudh, Cuttack  and Keonjhar.

Heat wave condition is also very likely to prevail in the districts of Baleswar, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Sundargarh and Deogarh.

However, thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur in the districts of Kandhamal, Ganjam, Rayagada, Gajapati, Koraput and Malkangiri on the day.
