Prez Murmu visits Ayodhya

Thursday, 02 May 2024 | PNS | Ayodhya

In a significant visit to Ayodhya on Wednesday, President Droupadi Murmu paid obeisance at the revered Ram temple, marking her presence in the sacred city.

Upon President Murmu’s arrival at the airport, she was warmly received by UP Governor Anandiben Patel and senior UP Minister Surya Pratap Shahi.

President Murmu’s first stop was the Hanuman Garhi temple, where she performed rituals in reverence to Lord Hanuman.

Accompanied by Mahant Premdas Maharaj and other priests, she participated in the sacred ceremonies, symbolising the spiritual significance of her visit.

Moving on to the Ram Lalla temple, President Murmu engaged in rituals conducted by chief priest Satyendra Das, amidst a warm welcome extended by  Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust general secretary Champat Rai.

Immersing herself in the spiritual atmosphere, President Murmu also partook in the Saryu aarti and performed a milk abhishek ceremony, symbolising her reverence for the divine.

Following the temple visit, President Murmu bid farewell to Ayodhya, departing for Delhi from Maharishi Valmiki Airport.

President Murmu’s pilgrimage to Ayodhya marks her as the third president to visit the sacred city and the second to pay obeisance to Ram Lalla, following in the footsteps of her predecessor Ram Nath Kovind, who visited Ayodhya in 2021. Earlier, President Giani Zail Singh had also made a significant visit to Ayodhya in 1983, and sought blessings at Hanuman Garhi and Kanak Bhawan, adding to the city’s rich tapestry of spiritual history.
