Saturday, 13 April 2024 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Rainfall and thunderstorm in different parts of the State for the last few days had provided a temporary respite from the torrid heat wave.

But an intense spell of heat wave is again on the cards as the Regional Office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Friday predicted a sharp rise in maximum or day temperature in the State.

As per the IMD’s forecast, the maximum temperature is expected to rise by 6 to 8 degree Celsius after 24 hours.

“No large change in the maximum temperature (day temperature) during next 24 hours and gradual rise by 6 to8 degree during subsequent four to five days at many places over the districts of the State,” said the weather office.

The IMD also issued a Yellow warning for heat wave in several parts of Odisha.

On Saturday, hot and humid weather condition is likely to prevail in the districts of Cuttack, Nayagarh, Boudh, Angul and Khordha, said the IMD issuing a Yellow warning.

Besides, light to moderate rain/thundershowers is very likely to occur in the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur on the day.
