BSL cancels license of Birsa Dental College; premises to be vacated soon

Thursday, 09 May 2024 | R Sharma | BOKARO

In a significant development, BSL (Bokaro Steel Limited) has revoked the license of Birsa Dental College, operated by the Bokaro Educational Society, citing violations of license agreement terms and unpaid dues. Consequently, Bokaro Steel Management has decided to cancel the allocation of premises in Sector 8C, which was previously allotted to Birsa Dental College.

BSL had allocated the campus, including the old BIV-8C building, to Bokaro Educational Society, under a license agreement in July 1999, with the provision for timely renewal as per specified conditions. However, since 2014, despite repeated communications from BSL, the society failed to renew the license or clear pending dues. Moreover, without permission, the society operated a 50-bed hospital under the name of Jain Hospital within the premises. Unauthorized modifications were also made to the allocated building, and illegal constructions were carried out on open land within the campus.

In light of these violations, BSL has revoked the license of Birsa Dental College. The electricity supply to the premises will be disconnected soon, and legal procedures will be initiated to vacate the entire campus.

Additionally, Bokaro Steel Management has also canceled leases for plots P-33 in Sector-3, SSP-4 in Sector-9, and SSP-15 in Sector-9 due to breach of lease terms and non-payment of dues. These plots will also be vacated after the electricity supply is cut off.

The legal process will persist against individuals who neglect to renew leases/licenses punctually, default on payments, or breach lease/license terms, in accordance with the law as BSL authority Intimated categorically.
