BJP comes back in Palamu after 15 years!

Saturday, 17 May 2014 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

Vishnu Dayal Ram of BJP polled 4,76,513 votes while RJD's Manoj Kumar polled only 2,12,571 votes confirmed the returning officer Palamu Kirpa Nanad Jha. Sources said it was BJP's all time great victory. A former DGP carved a niche for himself in the arena of politics.

The BJP in Palamu returned from its political exile in 2014 lok sabha election. last time it had won the Palamu lS seat was in 1999. It took more than 15 years for the BJP to make a grand come back and it did with ease and comfort. It did not appear that BJP had to even struggle here for votes. The votes came to BJP like any torrential rains. Even the Palamu BJP candidate V D Ram had not thought of garnering so many lakhs of votes.

It was former CM Arjun Munda who threw his

weight behind VD Ram and campaigned for him thrice in this seat.

The district president of Palamu BJP Manoj Kumar Singh is too elated as in his second term as district president he got this seat for the BJP. In his first term as district chief  Palamu Zila Parishad’s two top posts chairman and vice chairman went from the BJP camp. The Pioneer spoke to Manoj Kumar who just ran short of words thanking the voters for securing such a massive victory of the BJP in Palamu.

The poll results here in Palamu has in fact banged the door on the former naxals as the way the outgoing MP a former naxal Kameshwar Baitha met with rout would make any former naxal to think thrice before joining the poll race. Baitha remained out of race in the poll campaign and in the counting. His men said he did not come to the

counting centre.

lalu Prasad had helicoptered the constituency thrice and had huge crowd of people in his meetings but when it came to converting Bheer ( gathering) into Votes the RJD chief slipped on his face. None had ever thought of RJD faring so poor.
