Friday, 09 June 2017 | PNS | Ranchi

Holy soil from the mausoleum of Bhagwan Birsa Munda in Kokar was taken to Ulihatu on Thursday by his descendants for constructing 150 feet ‘Statue of Ulgulaan’ at Edalhatu in Bundu, around 40 km from the State Capital.

The Rath, designed especially for the purpose, was flagged off by Patron of Ulgulaan Foundation and AJSU Party Chief Sudesh Mahto, Tamar MlA Vikas Munda, Padma Sri Mukund Nayak, party Spokesperson Deosharan Bhagat, Ramdurlabh Munda and other party leaders after worshiping it.  “The initiative has been taken to keep the contribution of this legend memorable and intact and also to keep inspirations given by him alive,” said Mahto.

Mahto, on 17th foundation day of Jharkhand had announced that a 150 feet high statue of Birsa Munda – ‘Statue of Ulgulaan’ -- at Ulihatu will be constructed. The decision was taken to keep legend of Bhawan Birsa alive across the State.

Incidentally, ‘Statue of Ulgulaan’ is being built on two acres of land near Surya Mandir in Bundu. Panchayat Representatives of Bundu, Tamar, Arki, Ichagarh, Saraikela, Chaibasa and other places along with Birsait Community have been invited for bhumipujan ceremony to be held on Friday.
