1380 teams formed to keep eye on election areas: CEO

For proper implementation of model code of conduct 1380 teams have been formed which would be divided equally and one would remain stationary while one would be made mobile to keep eye on the areas said Chief Electoral Officer Madhya Pradesh VL Kantarao while speaking with the media persons on Monday.

He said criminal record has to be published in newspapers according to the list which is provided to district returning officer and newspapers which are not in the list would not be acceptable for publishing crime record of the candidates.

The record has to be published form November 15 to 26 thrice in newspapers and submitted with the campaigning expenses with election commission.  A TV advertisement of criminal record of atleast 7 seconds have to be aired during campaigning.

The election commission has reserved 91 symbols for Madhya Pradesh state assembly elections. Seven symbols for National political parties and 10 regional political parties from other states.  

During the media briefing a comparison of seized cash, gold and silver, illegally transported liquor, drugs and other goods in state assembly elections 2013 and state assembly elections 2018 (till November 11).

According to the comparison in the  state assembly elections 2013 Rs 19.18 crore of unaccounted cash, gold and silver worth Rs 77.58 lakh, illegally possessed liquor worth Rs 5.87 crore, drugs worth Rs 30.80 lakh and other goods worth Rs 1.47 crore were seized  and in comparison  in the state assembly elections 2018 till Sunday Rs 20.58 crore of unaccounted cash, gold and silver worth Rs 7.43 crore, illegally possessed liquor worth Rs 9.57 crore, drugs worth Rs 5.45crore and other goods worth Rs 6.39 crore were seized.
