The enforcement agencies, in compliance with the directive of the Election Commission of India, seized Rs 127.51 lakh worth of liquor, drugs, and cash on April 25.
The seizures were made by the enforcement agencies, including the Excise, Income Tax, Police, Narcotics departments, and others, in statewide drives. From March 16 to April 25, Rs 32,281.70 lakh worth of liquor, drugs, precious metals, and cash, among other items, have been seized.
Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa said that the Excise, Income Tax, Police, Narcotics departments and other enforcement agencies in the state were taking continuous actions. He said on April 25, liquor, drugs and cash worth Rs 127.51 lakh were seized. This included Rs 13.93 lakh in cash, 18,628.60 litres of liquor valued at Rs 49.95 lakh, 193,367.70 grams of drugs valued at Rs 63.62 lakh, and other materials valued at Rs 0.01 lakh.
In a major seizure on April 25, 1,52,000 grams of drugs worth Rs 38 lakh were seized in the Marihan assembly constituency of Mirzapur district.
The CEO said that from March 16 to April 25, Rs 32,281.70 lakh worth of liquor, drugs, precious metals and cash have been seized, including Rs 3,181.54 lakh in cash, Rs 4,435.47 lakh worth of liquor, Rs 21,346.72 lakh worth of drugs, Rs 2,161.59 lakh worth of precious metals and Rs 1,156.39 lakh worth of other materials.
It is known that along with the announcement of the election dates for the Lok Sabha elections by the Election Commission of India on March 16, the Model Code of Conduct is being effectively implemented throughout the state to conduct free, fair, peaceful, fear-free, inclusive, and secure polling in the entire state.
