Twenty six kilometres away from Haridwar main city, located near boundary of Rajaji National Park in Aurangabad village is this new residential facility built by yoga guru Swami Ramdev for disseminating Vedic education combined with modern education which was inaugurated on Saturday by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat and Acharya head of Juna Akhada Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avdheshanand Giri. The institution shall follow gurukul system of education, said Ramdev.
Lauding the efforts of Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna in building Gurukulam, Bhagwat said that through this Gurukulum, Indian education system shall be influenced. Education would not be making job seekers but man making education ideal which Vivekananda gave to the nation. He added that he had full faith that students who pass out from the institution would help materialise the dream of making the nation Vishwaguru.
Though the ambience at the lawns of Gurukulum was saffron and Vedic, many muslim Gram Pradhans in the gathering enhanced the dimensions of the gathering. Keeping in tune, Bhagwat said, “Paths are many but the goal is same. Ram was not of one community, he was ideal of all. Ancestors of believers of diverse religions were same. We know Ram as ideal man, Lord Krishna as good administrator so we worship them too. If we all behave like good Indians then alone India will be Vishwaguru.” He exhorted for expansion in ideology.
Swami Avdheshanand Giri said, “I can see a futurist in these children. These gurukul students will shape India as per the trend.” Citing example of Netherlands which has become one of the countries which have introduced Sanskrit language in education, he said with such Sanskrit scholars prepared by Gurukulum, India will never get an outsider who would enslave the people like the colonialists did.
Picking various verses from Bhagawd Geeta, Swami Ramdev made the students recite verses by giving props from 18 chapters of the holy scripture. Chanakya Neeti was memorised by all students of gurukulum and kanya gurukulum being run near Devprayag.
It should be mentioned here that the Gurukulam is built on 22 bigha land at a cost of nearly Rs 15 crore. Students can take admission in class V in the age group of 9 to 11 years. The students qualifying in Sanskar camp which begins from December 16 shall be given admission in the Gurukulam.
