In his condolence message Rawat said, “I express my profound grief at the demise of former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Narayan Dutt Tiwari. The departure of Tiwari ji is a personal loss as despite being in the opposition, he always maintained a relationship of love above party politics with me.
His demise has left a void in Indian politics which will be difficult to fill. He had served on important positions as Union Finance Minister, Industry Minister and Foreign Minister. Uttarakhand will never forget the contribution of Tiwari ji. He played an important role in the economic and industrial progress of the newly formed State in its attempt to stand on its own feet.”
Later, in an informal conversation with media persons, Rawat said that Tiwari’s able administration and development-oriented mentality also played an important role in the considerable increase in the per capita income in Uttarakhand.
Meanwhile, Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi informed that in honour of ND Tiwari, State-level mourning will be observed in Uttarakhand from October 18 to 20. The national flag will be kept at half mast in all Government offices where it is hoisted. On these days, there will not be any official entertainment programme. His cremation will be conducted with police honours, she added.
It should be mentioned here that Tiwari’s mortal remains are slated to be cremated at Haldwani on Saturday.
