A splendid Kathak performance was presented here on Thursday at Baithak-The Art House, wherein the kathak aspirants showcased their talent. The performance marked the conclusion of a 15-day kathak workshop.
The excellent command of rhythm, as well as their natural flair for profound expression, marked their performance. Their exuberance and the blend of Kathak mudras was a pleasure to watch.
A noted and distinguished Kathak performer Alpana trained the participants of age 6 to 35 years and made them learn the basic steps of Kathak. It is to be noted that she has been trained in traditional ‘Guru Shishya Parampara’ he taught teaching the same methods to the participants.
As many as 40 participants were a part of the workshop. The participants learnt different mudras of this particular form of classical dance. At the workshop the students were taught about the basics of the classical dance and they learnt the Kathak mudras.
Their performance won huge round of applause from kathak lovers. Alpana in this performance refined the dramatic and rhythmic aspects, delighting audiences with the performance over rhythm and the stylized presentation.
The artists began thier performance with ‘Guru Vandana’ Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu, Guru Mahadevo. After that, they presented traditional composition wonderfully, won huge round of applause from kathak lovers. The artists then performed the Pure Kathak with Hastak mudras, Tode, Paran, Tukde and other forms as well.
For their effortless pirouettes, amazing footwork and wonderful expressions, the dancers won hearts of the audience in Bhopal with their delightful performance. Facial expressions were incorporated with the musical sequences. The dance was kept simple yet innovative. The elegant costume and simple look of the performers was another reason of attraction of the show.
