A lecture programme on ‘Women's Empowerment’ was organised at SSJSN College, Garhwa on Tuesday. Chief Guest Garhwa Deputy Commissioner Dr. Neha Arora, Vice Chancellor Dr. SN Singh and Principal Dr Akhilanand Pandey jointly lightening the lamp and floral lamp in front of the photograph of Goddess Saraswati.

Speaking on the occasion DC said that by organising such programmes in the college, it will help women overcome misconceptions in the society. “In the Indian tradition, women are described as the nature of power, hence women are already empowered. In the past few epochs, there has been an increase in adversity against women in society, it needs to be brought down,” said the DC.

“Government has started several provisions for the protection of women. There has been an increase in the incidents of misbehaviour with girls coming to school and college. Due to domestic violence, many women have lost their lives. To get the most of these emoluments, men too have to come forward, women will have to give enthusiastic support in the work done by them. Then only women empowerment can be done in the right way. At the same time, women will also have to be aware of their rights,” she added

NPU VC Dr SN Singh said that since Vedic period, women walked with step by step with men.  Even in the wars, women lived together. He gave examples from Ramayana and said, “World School has decided to set a target for the education of girl students and bring them to the workplace to make creative work.  Simultaneously, the University administration has taken a decision to refine the talent inside the students' culture programme.  This will have an interest in their going to college, they will also be empowered,” he said.

Principal Dr. Akhilanand Pandey welcomed the guests who attended the programme. Dr. Manoj Pathak and Dr. Pravin Prabhakar played an important role in making the programme successful.

Former Principal Prof. Bhagwat Ram Yadav, Dr. Shyam Bihari Prasad Gupta, Dr. Suvarn Mahato, Dr. Ghanshyam Pandey, Dr. Ajay Prasad, Dr. Virendra Yadav, Dr. Sunil Das, Dr. BP Pandey, Dr. Anil Verma,  Bibha Kumari and presence of hundreds of student was accompanied by the Gopinath Women college Principal Dr. Sanyuktha Singh, Dr. Sant Kishor Prasad and the exhibition of the college.
