Irked over the attitude of the State Government on not providing any concrete assurance on the Clinical Establishment Act, the doctors of private hospitals and clinics have decided to go on an indefinite strike from December 25.
The general secretary of the Uttarakhand chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA), Dr D D Chaudhury said on Monday that the private medical practitioners have had some reservations on clinical establishment Act.
He said that the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat had assured the IMA of a solution being found to accommodate their grievances. “But nothing has happened despite a long time having elapsed since,” he lamented.
Dr Chaudhury further said that as per the IMA suggestion, a nursing homes Act should be implemented in the State in place of the clinical establishment. “IMA has prepared a draft and sent it to the health department. However, no step is being taken to implement the nursing home Act or make amendment in the clinical establishment Act. This is unfortunate and this non-challance on the part of the Government is forcing us to an indefinite strike from December 25,” he added.
