Taking a jibe at Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s proposed ‘dharma sabha’, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that Hindu saints and leaders should stage protest outside Parliament House or the Supreme Court instead of holding meeting in Ayodhya if they really wanted a Ram temple.
“What is the use of this ‘dharma sabha’ in Ayodhya? It is clear now that the construction of temple can start only if the Narendra Modi government gets a legislation passed in Parliament regarding it. The sadhus should pressurise the government to bring a legislation (for Ram temple construction) at the earliest,” Raut, who is spokesman of his party, said in Ayodhya on Monday.
The VHP has proposed a ‘dharma sabha’ in Ayodhya on November 25. The same day, similar meetings will be held in Bengaluru and Nagpur. On December 9, the VHP will organise a ‘dharma sansad’ in Delhi.
Raut said the Shiv Sena would support the Modi government if it brought a legislation to pave way for construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Raut is in Ayodhya to prepare grounds for Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray’s proposed visit to Ayodhya on November 25.
He is piqued that the VHP is holding a ‘dharma sansad’ the day Thackeray will be in the town.
Earlier in the day, the Shiv Sena leader held meetings with saints and discussed the possibility of construction of Ram temple and the role the Shiv Sena could play in it.
