In a tragedy on the Ganesh Puja day, a student was killed and five others were wounded after honeybees attacked them in Rayagada district on Thursday.
The deceased identified as Deba Das Toika, son of Mangulu of Miribali village, was a Class-II student.
The injured students Srinu Mandangi, Bikash Mandangi, Nathan Mandangi, Rohit Toika and Asish Puala were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
The children are the students of te Karubai Ashram School. While Srinu and Bikash from Tikarpada village are studying in Class-I, Nathan, Rohit and Asish are in Class-III, II and III, respectively.
According to reports, the incident took place when the students had gone to a nearby forest to collect leaves for Ganesh Puja at the school witout being accompanied by any teacher.
