While the trend of plummeting minimum temperature continues across the State western disturbance- induced rain might lash a swathe of the State involving several districts like Chamoli, Nainital, Almora, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh on Tuesday. As per the forecast issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre, thundershower is likely to lash several places across these districts on the day. However, the climate would be generally dry in the rest of the State, though the sky would remain mainly to partly cloudy on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the mercury in Dehradun dipped to 5 degree Celsius, two notches below the normal, on Monday. The climate is likely to remain dry here on Tuesday. As per the forecast, the minimum is likely to come down across the State, particularly in the hills. In Dehradun, the sky would be mainly clear to partly cloudy on the day while fog is likely to form in the plain areas of the State in the early morning hours, the weather officials said.
Meanwhile, in Dehradun, the day was mostly sunny to the relief of the people now reeling under the biting cold. While the maximum temperature settled at 24.8 degree Celsius, three degrees above the normal, the minimum was 5 degree Celsius, two notches below the normal, on Monday.
Elsewhere in the State, in Pantnagar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 23.9 degree Celsius and 4.4 degree Celsius, two notches below the normal, respectively on Monday.
At Mukteshwar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 11.7 degree Celsius, three degrees below the normal, and 3.6 degree Celsius, normal. In New Tehri, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded were 15.8 degree Celsius and 4.4 degree Celsius respectively on the day.
As per the weather forecast, Dehradun might wake up to a foggy morning on Tuesday. The climate would clear as the day advances.
It would be generally sunny though the sky might be overcast for some time on the day, as per the Met department forecast.
