Union Min to inaugurate academic session today

The academic session of the first batch of the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) Mumbai campus at Bhubaneswar would be inaugurated by Union Petroleum and Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday.

Director of the new institute Dr BM Thorat informed this at a Press meet here on Thursday.

Dr Thorat said the initiative was taken to set up the ICT Mumbai campus at Bhubaneswar in collaboration with the IndianOil; and the ICT-IOC Bhubaneswar campus was inaugurated by the President of India from IIT Bhubaneswar on March 18.

He said the main objective of the institute is to create entrepreneurs, who are job creators, and mentioned that the institute Mumbai branch has produced 19 Padma Awardees and 500 entrepreneurs since its inception.

This institute would ensure improved quality and industry relevance in curricula development in the field of chemical engineering, i.e., petrochemicals, textiles, polymers, foods, pharmaceuticals and energy, he added.

It would offer five-year Integrated MTech in Chemical Engineering and executive MTech in Chemical Engineering for working professionals and PhD programmes.

It would also setup ‘Centres of Excellence’ in various areas. In the first phase it would intake 60 students per year including 15 girl and five girls of Odisha.  

Among others, institute Bhubaneswar Dean Prof Satish Kumar Sadangi, Indian Oil Odisha CGM Pritish Bharat and senior manager (CC) Srinivas Patra were present.
