Show stealers

Two daily soaps Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Ishqbaaaz  swept the awards at recently held Star Parivaar Awards. By Ayushi Sharma

A star-studded line-up held our attention at the 16th edition of Star Parivaar Awards in Mumbai on Saturday. The Indian TV stars looked their best, the stage was set to welcome the winners and performers. It was a night to remember. The bright lights and loud music made it at par with the some of the biggest award shows. The pyrotechnics at the end grabbed eyeballs and were the perfect finish.

The glitzy award night was hosted by many big names in the TV space, like Hina Khan, Divyanka Tripathi and Karishma Tanna. The award show recognises actors and their contribution to the entertainment industry. While many shows have made space in the viewers’ hearts over the course of last year, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Ishqbaaaz were the top hits.

The award for favourite pair was bagged by Kartik and Naira (Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai). Kartik joyously said, “Before anyone else I would like to thank god, and then our casting director for being the light that we needed in life, I really appreciate all the guidance I have got.” Shivaay and Anika (Ishqbaaaz) received the Digital Sadasya Jodi award.

Karishma Tanna, who is currently playing a character Gauri in Qayamat ki raat, said “The award ceremony is a nice breather and break for all the actors. You get to perform with all the parivaar, you dance and enjoy. I think audience gets excited to see all the actors performing together. It must be very entertaining and fun for the viewers.”

The award show has scaled up in the last few years. When it began it was all about Ekta Kapoor’s shows. “Now I’m so glad to see the strength of this parivaar. I feel so blesses to be a member of Star Parivaar,” Mukti Mohan expressed.

It was a night to shine for the fashionistas and they left no stone unturned. Hina Khan dazzled in a golden coloured gown. The actress also performed on the remixed Dilbar dilbar song whereas the Ishqbaaz actress Surbhi Chandna slayed the red carpet in a white attire. She also performed at the event.

Tanna rocked the event with her performance on Akh lad jave.  Shivangi Joshi, who plays Naira, was stunning in a red gown and Mohsin Khan, who plays Kartik, looked dapper in a blue suit.

The new jodi of Star Parivaar, Parth Samthaan and Erica Fernandes - Anurag and Prerna from Kasautii Zindagi Kay looked as comfortable off screen as they are on screen. The duo wore matching outfits in grey.
