3rd convocation at IIM Sirmaur

The 3rd Annual Convocation of the Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur was organised on April 12, 2019. The ceremony was held at the Institute’s campus at Paonta Sahib. Sunil Kant Munjal, one of the founder promoters of Hero Group and Chairman, Hero Enterprise was the chief guest on the occasion and delivered the convocation address. Professor Neelu Rohmetra, director, IIM Sirmaur, presented the director’s report on the occassion.

The ceremony was graced by Ajay S Shriram, chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Sirmaur, and chairman & senior managing director, DCM Shriram Ltd, who presided over the 3rdAnnual Convocation and awarded MBA degrees to the graduating students. The academic procession included the graduating students, faculty, members of board and academic council. The families of academic students were present on the occasion.

A total of 63 students were conferred the full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA). Fifteen girl students were conferred MBA degrees on the occasion of the 3rd annual convocation of the Institute. Anshika Gupta received Chairman’s Gold medal for being the overall topper of the batch. Director’s Gold medal was awarded to Akshay Devapal for ranking second in order of merit. Kanika Gupta was presented with Special Recognition Award for being the Best All Rounder for the batch.

In his convocation address, chief guest Sunil Kant Munjal gave an inspiring address to the students to begin a new journey of success and contribute towardthe industry and society. Munjal laid stress on developing the mind set of an entrepreneur and face the dynamics of change with right strategy and planning. He discussed how the pace of change is accelerating at unmatched pace from past 10 years and how the old rules are failing to solve new problems of life and business. Finally, he encouraged students to do a thorough self-search, find out their skills and passion and pursue it whole heartedly in their life. “Life has a habit of overtaking all plans and that becomes the plan” he says.

He advised the students to manage their time well and fix priorities.

In his welcome address,the Chairman Board of Governors, Ajay S Shriram, talked about dealing with stress and negativity in life by applying certain rules which involve managing oneself and one's emotions effectively. He further exalted to the graduating batch to always focus on the positive aspects of life and improve once attitude through self-criticism and feedback from others. Shriram shared his vision of making IIM Sirmaur an institution of excellence by taking various new initiatives, emphasising on innovation and entrepreneurship among the students. He further thanked MHRD, Government of India and local community for their wonderful support in the growth of the institute.

Addressing the gathering, Professor Neelu Rohmetra, Director IIM Sirmaur congratulated the graduating students and their families and presented the director’s report of the institute’s progress. She further discussed various initiatives taken by the institute to improve both academic as well as physical infrastructure of the institute.
