workshop on Photography at IIAD
The Indian Institute of Art and Design (IIAD) organised a two-day photography workshop at its Okhla campus for Communication Design Students. The aim of the workshop, facilitated by Canon Photo Mentor and a Lifestyle and Commercial Photographer Ravi Dhingra, was to provide the students a chance to learn about the basics of photography from light sources to various lighting types and techniques.
The workshop provided the students with a platform to talk about the various aspects to keep in mind while taking a photograph and how to use reflectors and light modifiers in order to create the appropriate atmosphere and environment to visually express themselves.
Dhingra said: “Picture capturing is an art in which you need to gauge the details such as light, frame, exposure etc. to create an art piece. Shadow plays an important role in adding volume and dimension to any frame.” He stressed on the importance of the absence of colors in a time of so much sensory overload, as a way of disrupting the monotony and asserting one’s individuality.
