‘Let State Govts deal with HSRP issue’

Saturday, 16 February 2019 | PNS | New Delhi

The Central Government has recently amended the  High Security Registration Plates (HSRPs) law and introduced the Motor Vehicles (New High Security Registration Plates) Order, 2018. As a result, HSRPs which are supplied under the strict watch and scrutiny of the State Governments through manufacturers selected by the State Government, would from the 1st of April be supplied through Motor Vehicle manufacturers and affixed by their dealers. Addressing the media, international road safety expert, chairman Raahat, Dr. Kamaljit Singh Soi said, “the move will lead to a massive increase in crimes as the forged number plates will be easier to aquire. So, such move must be scrapped forthwith because it a national security issue too. We must let the State Govenments countinue to deal with this.”
