The CBI has registered two fresh FIRs relating to the alleged abuse of children in two shelter homes in Bihar—Bhagalpur-based Boys’ Children Home run by Rupam Pragati Samaj Samit,i and House Mother another children home in Gaya and their office bearers for alleged abuse of the minor inmates.
A Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) report had stated that House Mother of Children Home, Gaya ill treated children by using abusive language, physical assault, forcing them to write lewd messages and exploiting by then by taking manual labour.
Office bearers of these shelter homes are under the probe of the CBI even as the agency did not name any of the NGO functionairies.
Last year, there was national outrage following the alleged abuse of minor girls at a shelter home run by one Brajesh Pathak in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar.
The Supreme Court had directed the CBI to probe alleged abuse of inmates at 17 shelter homes listed in a study conducted by TISS.
The TISS report stated that House Mothe, Children Home, Gaya allegedly ill treated children by using abusive language, physical assault, forcing them to write lewd messages and further exploiting them by forcing them o take manual labour.
According to the allegations, there were no proper arrangements for medical treatment, study, recreation and food for the minor inmates at the shelter home.
The agency also alleged that the director and other officials were running Boys’ Children Home in violation of provisions of Juvenile Justice Act.
“The boys were mentally and physically abused in the shelter home. There were no educational recreational or vocational facilities...,” according to the TISS report, now part of the FIR.
The agency registered both the FIRs on Tuesday.
