A soldier of the Indian Army attained martyrdom while another received injuries after mortar shell, fired by the Pakistan Army, reportedly exploded in the close vicinity of the post along the line of control in Shahpur area of Poonch on Monday.
Both the injured were evacuated from the forward area but one of them succumbed to his fatal injuries.
Official sources said, “Pakistan Army resorted to ‘unprovoked’ ceasefire violation in Shahpur area of Poonch around 4.30 p.mâ€. Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively. In the heavy exchange of firing, which continued for over half an hour, one of the mortar shells exploded near one of the posts causing grievous injuries to a soldier.
