Green Nobel winner and Lok Shakti Abhiyan president Prafulla Samantara will leave for America on September 16 to attend the Peoples' Summit on Climate, Rights and Human Survival to be held at New York on September 18 and 19.
The summit will discuss the success made by different countries on implementation of programmes towards climate justice and human rights as per the Paris Agreement. A global-level resolution against human rights violation vis-à-vis climate change will be passed at the summit to bring about countries’ inefficiencies and lapses before the Union Nations.
“We will press for lessening of greenhouse gas by imposing restrictions on corprates and for sustainable development by checking xpensive lifestyle and bringing changes in industrialization that cause of climate change,” said Samantara.
Besides, Samantara also called upon all students of Odisha and the country to join the ‘Global Climate Strike’ called by schoolgirl Greta Thunberg on September 20 and 27.
“Students should stand on roads and tell parents, senior citizens, politicians and Government officials not to destroy the earth and make plans for sustainable development by stopping use of fossil fuel,” Samantara.
He called upon all people to support the global strike to be attended by students with help of different organisations.
