‘Sakhi’ ready to provide relief to the victims of violence against women

Punjab Government’s “Sakhi: a One Stop Centre” is all set to provide quick and timely relief to the victims of violence against women.

“The Government is opening such Centres in all the districts of the State,” said the State Higher Education and Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Razia Sultana after inaugurating Sakhi at Mohali Civil Hospital, Phase VI.

She said that this Centre will provide all required services to the victims of violence against women. “This Centre will function 24X7. One lady constable each will be deputed at these Centre,” she said.

“In this Centre, all kinds of emergency medical services will be provided to the victims besides immediate police help at site, legal support and guidance will also be extended to the victims of violence against women,” said Razia Sultana.

The Minister said that counselling by trained counsellors will also be given to the victims.

At this ‘Sakhi: One Stop Centre’, there will be facility to provide temporary shelter to the victims and their children, she added.
