The SP-BSP-RLD alliance on Wednesday announced Poonam Sinha, wife of Congress candidate from Patna Sahib Lok Sabha seat in Bihar Shatrughan Sinha, as its official candidate from Lucknow to challenge Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav made this announcement at a press conference here on Wednesday. Poonam Sinha will file her nomination papers from Lucknow as SP candidate on Thursday, the last date for filing nominations.
Polling for the Lucknow parliamentary seat will be held in the fifth phase on May 6.
