A bank dacoity bid was foiled in the branch of Allahabad Bank in Barbil of the district on Friday by an alert and brave security guard. Sources said five unidentified men entered in to the Allahabad Bank branch on the main road of the Barbil town, neighbouring Jharkhand at around 10 am, when only the bank’s Cashier and another staff and two to three customers were present.
Then the miscreants went directly to the cashier and asked him at gun point to hand over the locker key but when the cashier protested they attacked him. However, security guard Bijaya Vishowkarma , who was standing at the entrance immediately rushed to the rescue of the Cashier and scuffled with the dacoits .
But the miscreants hit him with the gunstock and injured him. Later, they snatched cash and mobile phones from the customers and fled from the spot. In the melee, they left behind a country made gun and some other articles. Getting information, the Barbil police rushed to the spot and are investigating into the incident.
