Cabinet nod to over 1,300 doctors’ posts in State

Proposal for creation of more than 1,300 posts of doctors for various Government hospitals, primary health centres and sub divisional hospitals was sanctioned by Jharkhand cabinet on Tuesday.

Addressing the media post Cabinet meeting, State Health Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi said, “To meet the shortage of doctors in the State, a total of 513 posts of doctors will be created for Patliputra Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) Dhanbad and 713 posts for MGM Medical College Jamshedpur. Also, 94 posts of doctors will be created for superspeciality section of PMCH, excluding the 513 posts.”

Creation of posts for 154 health officers for primary health centres (PHC) and 284 posts of doctors and other staff including nurses, OT assistants and others for 12 sub divisional hospitals has also been sanctioned. The recruitment on all these posts will be done through Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC).

Chandravanshi said, “In order to free the director and other doctors of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) from administrative works, two posts, additional director, finance and deputy director, finance will be created to look after the administration. This proposal has been sanctioned by the Cabinet.”

The Cabinet also approved formation of Jharkhand Nurse Rules, 2019 for recruitment and promotion of nurses in the State.

In another major decision, the State Cabinet approved providing gas connection and stoves to over 30 lakh women within a month under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala yojana (PMUY).

Food and Civil Supplies Minister Saryu Roy said, “All women, whose names are in ration card will be given gas connection now. There are over 57 lakh ration card holders and we have given connection to around 26.5 lakh women. The remaining will be covered this month.”

Department secretary Amitabh Kaushal informed that in financial year 2018-19, a budgetary provision of Rs 224 crore was made and a supplementary budget of Rs 45 crore was taken for the scheme.

The provision in the budget of FY 2019-20 for PMUY is Rs 150 crore.

Under the scheme, Jharkhand, unlike other states, also provides a free stove to the beneficiaries along with LPG connection.

Another major decision of the Cabinet was regarding the Planning and Finance Department under which dearness allowance (DA) of government workers who come under the unrevised pay slab has been increased from 274 per cent to 284 per cent.

A total of 20 proposals were approved by the council of ministers which included leasing out of 12.5 acre land in Kanke to CCL for Rs 24.29 crore for construction of a medical college, sanctioning of Rs 211.26 crore for construction of 304 check dams, leasing out 1019.44 hector area of Pachwara Central Coal Block to M/s Punjab Corporation for coal mining and suspension of Mandar circle officer Dinesh Prasad for taking bribe, among others.

Also, the proposal to establish a State Firearm Bureau and district firearm units for brining transparency in the work of maintaining inventory or destroying of seized, confiscated or surrendered firearms, section 103 and 104 of Arms Rule 2016 was approved by the Cabinet.
