Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Thursday sought the support of people from all strata of life in uniting and contributing towards building a new Jharkhand. Addressing the 73rd Independence Day celebrations here at the historical Morhabadi Ground on Thursday morning, Das also talked about various efforts of his Government for the welfare of farmers and the poor.
Addressing a gathering of several thousand people, Das thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for revoking article 370 and 35Aof the constitution, which gave special rights of Jammu & Kashmir. The Chief Minister unfurled the national flag at the ground and also witnessed a march past by jawans of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP), Jharkhand Jaguars, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), National Cadet Corps (NCC) and Jharkhand Home Guards.
“Jharkhand is the first state to give Rs 5,000 for each acre of land to farmers. Soon, journalists will also get pension in the State,” he said, adding that at least two lakh people have benefitted under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana of the Centre. The Government plans to give gold cards under the scheme to at least 57 lakh families in Jharkhand by September 25, he added.
“In last five years, forestry has witnessed a growth of 31.2 per cent, fisheries has witnessed a growth of 15.9 per cent and agriculture has seen a growth of 19 per cent,” said Das, highlighting the effectiveness of the various development policies that his Government has introduced since coming to power in December 2014.
Das said that the education sector in the State has benefitted immensely under the NDA Government in the State as the Centre. New medical colleges were opened in Dumka, Palamu and Hazaribag in Jharkhand. Besides, at least 12 women’s colleges, including an engineering college for women, and 27 degree colleges and 13 polytechnic colleges will come up soon in the State, he added.
Meanwhile, Governor Droupadi Murmu unfurled the national flag in Dumka’s Police Line Ground on Thursday and said that Jharkhand was fast moving on the path of development.
Jharkhand, she said, has made an identity for itself nationally and globally in the recent times. “Our Government is committed towards ensuring development of people living in the interiors of the State,” said Murmu.
The Governor added that Jharkhand is now playing a crucial role in development of the country and competing with all the developed States. The State, she said, has focused on empowerment of women and made at least 55,000 Rani Mistris employable after rigorous trainings.
