A college student was arrested on Friday for impregnating a minor tribal girl in the Belaghar area of Baliguda in Kandhamal district.
The accused was identified as Amulya Pradhani (20), a Plus Three student of the Tumudibandh College, who was staying in a rented room in Benarbal. The victim, a Class-VIII girl residing in the Girl’s Educational Complex of Rangaparu, complained of consistent stomachache. After conducting medical tests, she was found to be pregnant for four months. The matter was reported by the headmaster of the institute to the Belaghar police, following which Pradhani was arrested for impregnating the girl. The girl was handed over to the Phulbani District Child Protection Officer (DCPO).
