In a neck and neck fight in Municipal Council (MC) elections, Congress recorded overall lead against the nearest rival the BJP, with merely one to three seats deciding the winner in most civic bodies.
As per the results, BJP has won Bemetara MC with 12 seats while Congress got 8 and others 1. In Bilaspur district, Municipal Council Takhatpur BJP and Congress won 7 seats each while independent got 1 out of 15 wards. In Mungeli MC, BJP won 11 seats compared to 9 seats by Congress. In Khatghora Congress and BJP got 7 seats each while independent got one.
Congress dominated in Surapur district by winning Surajpur MC with 13 seats against 3 by BJP, two independents.
In Balrampur, Congress took lead in three MC of Balrampur with 8 seats while BJP got 4 and others 3, while in Manendragarh Congress got 9, BJP 5 and independent 8, while in Kharisa Cong got 13, BJP 4 and others 1.
Similarly in Jashpur district, Jashpur MC, BJP won 16 seats against 1 by Congress while 3 are held by others.
Congress won the MC of MCBaloda Bazar with 8 seats against 7 of BJP while independents bagged 4 seats and others 2.
Under Gariaband, Congress has won Gariaband and Kumharr while BJP won the Baghbhara and Ahiwara, while Congress won Balod Municipal Council by 12 against 6 of BJP while in Dongergarh BJP was one seat ahead of Congress’s 10 seats.
In Bastar district, Municipal Corporation Jagdalpur Congress won 28 seats while BJP won 19 seats out of 48 seats while one went to Independent. In Municipal Council Kanker of North Bastar, Congress won 11 seats while BJP got 7 seats while others took 3 seats out of total 21 seats.
In South Bastar’s Dantewada district, Congress won Kirandul with 10 seats against 3 seats by the BJP while others won 5 seats out of 18 seats. In Municipal Council Dantewada, BJP won 8 seats as against Congress’s 3 seats while others secured 4 seats out of 15 seats.
In Sukma district, Municipal Council Congress won 8 seats against BJP’s 7 out of 15 seats while in Narayanpur MC Congress won 9 against 5 of BJP and other by 1 while in Bijapur MC 12 seats was won by Congress against BJP’s 3 in Bijapur district.
