Dr Shekhar C. Mande, director general of CSIR and the Secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India visited NML, Jamshedpur on Sunday.
He visited different divisions and groups, including Asia’s second largest creep testing laboratory, state-of-the-art characterisation facilities, Non-destructive evaluation, Hot Dip Process Simulator, Waste utilization Laboratory, Forming and Foundry facilities, Magnetic lab, Tungsten extraction facility, Surface Engineering Lab, Analytical facilities, Certified Reference Materials facility and Functional Materials group.
During his visit, Dr. Mande interacted with the scientist involved in different major projects and encouraged them to do more meaningful work for the development of science and society.
In addition, he also visited NML Museum and Archive to know about the past and present technologies developed at NML at different stages of last 69 years. He appreciated the glorious past contribution of NML towards the development and growth of the metallurgical industries and society of India.
He also interacted with the young scientists, technical, administrative staffs and listen to their suggestions.
