Habibganj police have booked a female accountant of a private hospital for misappropriation of funds of Rs 6 lakh in a period of seven month; a complaint was lodged on Thursday after the company found the discrepancy in the accounts during audit.
Police said that the owner of Fracture hospital Sandeep Sharma lodged a complaint against Shikha Thapa who used to work as accountant with his hospital and from November 2017 to June 2018 she was involved in misappropriation of funds of Rs 6 lakh
In his complaint, Sharma stated that the Geeta Singh used to work as accountant. She used to maintain three registers for cash, cheque and card. In the audit which was conducted it was found that for the period November 2017 to June 2018 she registered cash collected against payment of bills by patients in the register which was meant for card which was around Rs 6.03 lakh. Later when it was found she accepted that she have cheated the hospital.
After it was found that the money was collected by her a complaint was lodged with the Habibganj police. Based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under sections 406 and 420 of the IPC and started further investigation.
The police suspect that the accused might have embezzled more funds which would be revealed in the further investigation. Police said that the victim is not working with the hospital and would be traced in the further investigation.
