Giridih Cyber police arrested four persons involved in several cases of cybercrime in Giridih and its surrounding districts. The accused have been identified as Vishwanath Kumar Mandal, Rajendra Kumar Mandal,Kailesh Mandal, and Santosh Mandal, -- all beloned to Chiksoria village in Ahilayapur in Giridih district, said DySP Sandeep Suman.
The accused persons were held near Chiksoria forest under Ahilayapur PS by a special squad on Wednesday afternoon. Six mobiles, 7 ATM cards,one passbooks, two motorcycles, 9 duplicate SIM cards and Cash Rs 25,000 were recovered while they have already done transactions worth Rs several lakh, said the DySP. “The accused used to target innocent people and daily-wage workers and the women posing them as the bank manager and asking them their account number and pin numbers,” added the DySP.
SP, Giridih, Surendra Kumar Jha said the accused operated remotely from mobile SIM cards issued on fake ID cards. Posing as senior manager or bank official they cheated gullible women by asking their bank account number and ATM pin number.
They came to police net after an innocent villager filed a complaint with Ahilayapur police that they were cheated by cyber criminals. Police said as more than dozen cases of cybercrime frauds were registered against accused at various police stations Giridih, said police sources.
