Inconsolable daughter recalls incident

Friday, 18 January 2019 | SHEKHAR SINGH | NEW DELHI

Eldest daughter of Veeru and his wife Sunita had come to home from Agra two days ago but she never thought that a year after her marriage, her parents will be killed in front of her.

An inconsolable Khusbhu (20) said she heard her mother Sunita calling her name and asking her to bring mobile phone but by the time she reached Mohammad Azad had already stabbed her mother, brother and was stabbing her father Veeru.

“He was stabbing my father and I was crying for help. But there was no one on street at that time. Who ever came to help was threatened by Azad that he would kill them if they interfered. I ran at corners of street to see if someone could come for help but no one came,” said Khusboo.

“He stopped stabbing my father after Vishambar chacha threw a brick at him from first floor in house. Azad then walked towards the road with knife in his hand and blood stains on  his shirt,” said Khusbhu.

“I had an appendix operation few days ago so I was not able to move but on hearing the voices I got up to know what was happening on street. I saw Azad stabbing Veeru. I quickly picked up a brick and threw at him. Till then other people in the area had also gathered and Azad walked out from there towards main road,” said Vishambar, their neighbour.

“Veeru was stabbed so badly that even his intestines had come out and nobody in the vicinity even dared to take him to hospital. I called police. We all tied a chunni knot around his stomach till the PCR arrived,” said Vishambar.

“Akash and Veeru were working on daily wages at a factory while Veeru’s another son Aman used to work at a plastic shop,” said Manpreet, a neighbour.

“No one is left to earn in our family. Brother is undergoing and I had lost my father and mother. Who will take care of us? Our sister is married she has a family to run. I demand that Azad should be hanged to death,” said Aman, younger son of Veeru.
