Lovely releases 25-point manifesto

Thursday, 09 May 2019 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

Focusing on issues like water scarcity, pollution, unemployment, transportation, education, garbage pile up and development of unauthorised colonies which have been "neglected" by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Congress candidate Arvinder Singh Lovely released a manifesto for east Delhi constituency on Wednesday.

In a 25-point election manifesto for the development of East Delhi, he said that if he is elected to Parliament, he would establish a toll-free number to directly connect with the citizens of the area through which they can share their issues and concerns with him.

Lovely said that providing facilities in the unauthorised colonies is one of the top priorities. "My priority would be to regularise these colonies and provide all civic amenities to residents of these colonies. Priorities would also be given to women's safety and security and for which a women's police station would be set up and besides installing street lights in all areas. The AAP government in Delhi has not given any attention in providing facilities in the unauthorised colonies," he said.

He said he is reaching out to people in each and every single part of the constituency. "I am a people's man. I know problems of this constituency inside out and people know me as well," he said, adding that the all the development works in this constituency was carried out during Sheila Dikshit tenure.

In his manifesto, Lovely promised to work on ensuring that every household in East Delhi gets clean water, employment for youth, 33 per cent reservation for women in government jobs, initiating measures to check pollution, increasing budget for health and education and 'pucca' houses for the poor among others.

Expressing concern at the plight of the families of small traders and industrialists who were affected by sealing and demolition drive, he said that traders would be given relief on a priority basis after the party is voted to power.
