Saturday, 17 August 2019 | PNS | KANKER

A 50-years-old tribal man was killed in a blast triggered by a landmine planted by Maoists at the insurgency-hit Kanker district, police said here on Thursday.

According to police, the deceased was identified as Sade Singh (50), a resident of Useli village under Amabeda police station limits.

“On Independence Day, Salam took his cattle for grazing in a nearby forest. Suddenly he came in contact with land mine planted by Maoist on the track leading to the jungle, which resulted in the blast that killed Salam” a local police officer said.

Soon after the news of blast reached the police, security personnel reached the spot and scanned the area for more bombs, police added.

Meanwhile, police has registered a case in this connection and are investigating the matter. Maoists have been constantly registering their presence in Amabeda and have killed three persons in the area in past one year.
