The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has completed 72 projects under the smart-city initiative, including installation of water ATMs, decentralised sewage treatment plants and underground bins, and 39 more projects are in the pipeline.

Addressing media persons about the council's smart city project, NDMC Chairman Naresh Kumar listed all the projects that the NDMC has taken up under the scheme. “A total of 111 projects were identified under the initiative at a cost of Rs 1,576.20 crore and 72 have been completed. Solar rooftop panels have also been installed on 92 buildings, along with 95 solar poles at several roundabouts as part of renewable energy initiatives taken by the civic body. Two solar bus queue shelters have also been installed and a solar tree has been put up in Connaught Place where leaves are working as solar panels and lighting the tree at night and also providing mobile charging facility,” he said.

The Chairman further said that the NDMC has worked to bring smart learning to all the schools run by us. “We have brought smart boards to our sixth to 12th section. Tinkering labs as a pilot project in some schools where students take their weekly tests and results are uploaded to our servers so we can evaluate how the students of a particular class of a particular school are doing. We will soon bring it in all our schools", he said.

"For exposure of our students, we have been sending our students to different parts of the country and hosting students from Leh, North East India and other parts of the country, he said.
