Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) think tank — Public Policy Research (PPR) on Friday claimed that by fulfilling its commitments mentioned in manifesto-2014, the party has earned “credibility” among masses.
Echoing party’s approach in Social, science & technology sectors, the BJP Member of Parliament and Director PPR, Vinay Sahasarabuddhe said that BJP has successfully implemented all its promises made in its 2014 election manifesto, except those that needed constitutional amendments for which the party required a majority in the Rajya Sabha.
Launching a monologue prepared by PPR, titled “This is how BJP Walks the Talks”- a report card of BJP in social and science and technology sectors, Sahasrabuddhe said, “We believe in empowerment and not entitlement. The focus is now on deliverance.”
As per the report, Rs 17 crore loans have been provided under Mudra Scheme, 35 crore bank accounts have been opened under Jan Dhan Yojana and three crore houses have been electrified under Saubhagya scheme.
“Only goal perhaps which BJP has not been able to meet was Article 370, basically those which need constitutional interventions which we cannot do without a majority in the Rajya Sabha.
Other than that I think we have robustly managed to achieve all our goals,” said the BJP leader, adding, “The leftist mentality” of having a law for everything needs to change. This is why Right To Education (RTE) came and Food
Security Act came into existence,” “This right based narrative has played a pivotal role in our country since the beginning. It is very attractive as well as populist. But on the ground it is different,” he added.
Mentioning about ‘no detention policy’, the BJP leader said that RTE which was formed after so much discussion, had to be improved in merely five years. The informality of education has been almost finished off.
Under RTE they are illegal and they made the Act in a hurry, it didn’t seem well thought-out,” he said. Launching the second part of monologue on Science and Technology, Dr Sahasrabuddhe said, “Space technology achieved its pinnacle under this government with successful missions like Mission Shakti, giving the country its anti-satellite capabilities.
Leveraging technology, the implementation of several flagship schemes was immensely improved.”
Presenting her monologue, one of the researchers, PPR, Avni Sablok said that promoting digital literacy and inclusion there for is a cornerstone for the vision of New India. Quoting the data based on research, Sablok said that the Governance infrastructure of the country got a shot in the arm through technological innovation which led to unprecedented social outcomes.
“The delivery of civic services greatly improved due to good governance initiatives which fixed accountability and transparency in the system in addition to technological interventions like Digital India,” said another research fellow, Vidushi Sahani.
