Rajpur police has arrested one person named Bhagwat Singh Dasila who allegedly attempted to outrage the modesty of a woman. The woman has recorded her magisterial statement and the case has been registered under sections 323, 354 and 452 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
According to the information provided by the local police, late on Wednesday night, the police received a call on 112 stating that a woman is shouting and crying in a hotel on Mussoorie Road near a private college. After receiving the information, trainee Circle Officer, Deepshikha Aggarwal, along with the police station in-charge of Rajpur police station, reached the hotel.
The victim told the police that she had come to visit Dehradun with a male friend. At night, her friend went to the terrace for a walk. Then, suddenly, a man from the opposite room came inside her room and started molesting her. When she protested, he slapped her and then became physically violent. When the victim started shouting and calling for help, he left her and went back to his room.
Police, then, detained the accused and took her to the police station for further interrogation. The accused is a native of Bageshwar district and works as a contractor. He had also come to Dehradun for travelling. During interrogation, he told the police that he was under the influence of alcohol on the said night. Upon realising that the person accompanying the woman in the room opposite to him has gone, he went to the room and tried to molest her.
